Annual Performance Awards Ceremony

Monday September 10, 2007: A simple and colorful event was organized at a local hotel. Almost all the staff members and Directors Board of LASOONA participated in the ceremony. The program was organized to distribute Shields and Appreciation Certificates among the staff for their outstanding performance during the year 2006. The purpose was to recognize the services of those who performed well in their respective fields.

Training and Extension Project under the Dutch Funded Social Forestry Project Malakand/Dir

PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED

LASOONA has successfully implemented the three Training and Extension projects of the Dutch funded Social Forestry Project Malakand/Dir from Jan 99 to June 2000. A formal contract was signed between the Social Forestry Project and LASOONA- Society for Human & Natural Resource Development. LASOONA implemented some of the project activities in the areas of extension and training in Malakand Agency and Dir District according to the mutually agreed work plan.

During the first period Jan 99- June 99, the following activities have taken place:

• Ashar Plantations with the Village Development Committees (VDCs) and Women Organization (WOs) were implemented in Dir and Malakand Agency under the Term of Partnership agreement (TOP).
• School Environmental lessons were conducted in schools (both boys and girls) in District Dir and Malakand Agency. Excursion tour was made to Environmental Rehabilitation Project, Buner and Swabi Rabita Council, Swabi. A total of 20 representatives from four VDCs from Dir Distt. and Malakand Agency participated in the excursion. Second group excursion tour was taken to Giligit/Hunza and Mansehra/Abbottabad. Similarly two Women Groups excursion tour was taken to Kohat, Charsada. In total 51 male and 36 female members from VDCs and WOs participated in the activity.
• VDCs and WOs conventions were held both in Malakand and Dir.
• Two training courses were organised for male and female Forest Extensionists on skill and attitude development and implementation of Terms of Partnership approach.

During the period July 99- Dec 99, the following activities have taken place;

• Ashar Plantations were conducted in VDCs and WOs. VDCs Ashar Plantations were held in Shagai, Gujaro, Nirga, Seali Patai, Gari Uman Khel and Alladand. WO Ashar

• Plantations were conducted in Kot, Nargai and bajurow.
• VDC Excursions were conducted in and Malakand.
• School Co-ordination meeting was held in Dir with male District Education officers. In Malakand Totakan was selected for School Program.
• Girls school Ashars were conducted in Warsak, Asband, ranai, Kot and Totakan.
• Monitoring and data collection of Range management Plots was conducted.
• Training of male and female Forest Extentionists was arranged.

During the contract Jan 2000- June 2000, the following activities have taken place;

• School Environmental Programs in Malakand Agency & Dir District.
• VDCs/WOs Conventions
• Demonstration/Utilization Plots: These plots were well maintained by chowkidars employed and paid by LASOONA.
• School Debating Competition
• School Excursions.
• WOs/FFEs Training
• VDCs Excursions

The activities were carried out in following villages of Malakand Agency and Dir District;
Kam Agra, Gurgia, Baroon, Karmu, Haryan Kot, Jolagram, Tiknai, Totai, Nasafa, Battan, Dherai, Mekhband, Ghari Usman Khel Amlook Darra, Dodba, Qulandai, Haibat Gram, Kattan, Sakhakot and Dherai Aladand
